About the GCMIA

The Gold Coast is home to a hive of musical activity - all it needs is a forward-thinking approach to educate and co-ordinate the efforts of local people involved in the music industry. With members ranging from events coordinators, venues and musicians to journalists, music teachers, and lawyers, the association aims to co-ordinate and advise people on the Coast in generating a self-sustaining music industry.

The association will, with the support of Qmusic, Queensland's peak music industry body, work out the best way of generating a music scene throughout the entire Gold Coast, from Coolangatta to Beenleigh.

GCMIA plans to listen to the concerns of music lovers, club owners, restaurants, musicians, agents, studios, and encourage a joint effort in building an industry to benefit all. A central part of the association will be to promote, train and market the local industry.

GCMIA is planning local festivals, music conference and workshops, development initiatives. The gcmia.org.au website features local gig guide, details of upcoming events and workshops, funding opportunities, membership information, and an online directory of Gold Coast music industry representatives. The association is working closely with the Gold Coast City Council and the Gold Coast business community to ensure that the interests of the local music industry are properly represented.
